MANILA, Philippines — Overcast skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms prevailing over Quezon and Camarines provinces is due to the low-pressure area (LPA) east-northeast of Virac, Catanduanes, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Friday morning.

According to Pagasa, the LPA was spotted 205 kilometers east-northeast of Virac, Catanduanes at 3 a.m.

“’Yung LPA na ito ay mababa naman ang tsansa na magdevelop into a tropical depression kaya posibleng in the next coming days, improving weather na tayo dyan sa eastern side ng Luzon,” Pagasa weather specialist Ezra Bulquerin said in a weather bulletin.

(This LPA has a low chance of developing into a tropical depression so it’s possible that the weather in the eastern side of Luzon will improve in the coming days.)

Meanwhile, Bulquerin said the northeast monsoon, which Filipino term is amihan, still affects the weather in Northern and Central Luzon and may cause isolated light rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have fair weather although partly cloudy to cloudy skies and isolated light rains remain likely.

There will also be fair weather in Visayas and Mindanao but sudden isolated rain showers may occur in the afternoon and evening, said Bulquerin.
