MANILA, Philippines — Davao City mayor and vice-presidential aspirant Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio accepted Wednesday the offer to serve as the chairman of the Lakas-CMD party ahead of the 2022 national elections.
Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., who was the party’s former chairman, offered the post to Duterte-Carpio earlier.

“I am honored to accept the Chairmanship of Lakas-CMD. Together with the party, I look forward to waging a successful campaign for Uniteam BBM-Sara, with the invaluable support of our fellow Filipinos,” Duterte-Carpio, through her spokesperson Liloan City mayor Christina Frasco, said in a statement.
Duterte-Carpio is running for vice presidency with former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., who will vie for the presidential seat as her running mate.
One of the Lakas-CMD leaders is former President and House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, who serves as the party’s emeritus.
Duterte-Carpio and Macapagal-Arroyo are not strangers to each other. In 2018, it was said that Duterte-Carpio played a hand in the ouster of then House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez and the installment of Macapagal-Arroyo at the helm of the lower chamber.
