MANILA, Philippines — Agence France-Presse (AFP) has been recognized as the “Best News Agency” by the U.K-based Association for International Broadcasting (AIB) for the second time in a row.
AIB made the announcement on Nov. 12 during their annual media awards.
“What makes us really unique, different is our incredible network of nearly two thousand journalists of 100 different nationalities,” said AFP’s Video Director Juliette Hollier-Larousse.
“We were the first independent media to enter Tigray after the Ethiopian government’s offensive; we chronicled the Taliban takeover in Kabul and all over Afghanistan day by day, and we chronicled the consequences of global warming in the Brazilian Amazon with a major series of reports,” she added,
According to Hollier-Larousse, AFP has a multimedia culture that is deeply embedded in its operations, adding that text, photo, and video reporters work hand-in-hand across all their bureaus.
On its website, AFP says it is a global news agency that provides fast, comprehensive, and verified news coverage.
“With 2,400 staff representing 100 different nationalities, AFP covers the world in six languages, with a unique quality of multimedia storytelling spanning video, text, photos and graphics,” it said.
The AIB is a global alliance of media companies that deliver or support the broadcasting of cross-border and multi-platform international news.
