No lead yet in killing of former gov’t worker

POLICE have invited for questioning relatives, neighbors and friends of the retired government worker who was found dead in her house in barangay Busay, Cebu City.

The motive behind the killing of Antonieta Espiritu has yet to be established, said  Senior Insp. Jul Mohammad Jamiri, chief of the homicide section of the Cebu City police.

He said police went to the houses of  various individuals who may have useful infomation.

“We are still looking at all angles,” he said.

Espiritu, a retired teller of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), was found dead in her bedroom early morning last Thursday.

Her hands were tied behind her with a bra strap and her feet bound  with an electrical cord. A stocking was also found stuffed in her mouth.

An iInitial police report said there were no valuables taken from the room but  the victim’s helper, Mary Himalaya said  the victim’s two cell phones and a gold necklace were missing.

It was  the helper who found Espiritu lying on the floor of her room past 5 a.m. last Thursday./CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
