Two brothers nabbed for carrying firearms
Two brothers were arrested after police found them allegedly carrying guns while they sat in a parked car in barangay Carreta, Cebu City.
Two .45 pistols were recovered from Galy and Michael Secretaria, said police.
The two men were arrested on board a sedan parked along General Maxilom Avenue, early morning yesterday.
Operatives of the Mobile Patrol Group (MPG) said police responded to a report that armed persons were seen in a parked car.
The Secretaria brothers said they stopped along the road because the car ran out of fuel.
They said the car is owned by their parents and that they bought the guns for self-protection.
Chief Insp. Romeo Santander, chief of the City Intelligence Branch (CIB), said charges of illegal possession of firearm will be filed against them.
Two empty shells recovered during the arrest will be subjected to a ballistic examination to find out if they match those recovered in a series of drive-by shootings in the city.
Santander said there is no evidence yet to link the two brothers to these shootings.
Santander said witnesses will be invited for the possible identification of the brothers.
