MANILA, Philippines — Customs authorities seized P1.72 million worth of misdeclared frozen frigate tuna at Port of Davao.

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) said the container carrying tuna recently arrived at Davao International Container Terminal in Panabo City, Davao del Norte, and was declared to contain frozen malt.

But upon physical examination authorities discovered some 2,300 boxes of frozen frigate tuna.

The BOC said the misdeclared items were not covered by a sanitary and phytosanitary import clearance and landing permit from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources.
