LEGAZPI CITY––Beating the last day for the withdrawal and substitution of candidacies for the 2022 polls, former Camarines Sur representative Rolando “Nonoy” Andaya Jr. announced Monday that he was pulling out from the congressional race and filing his candidacy for the gubernatorial post.
Replacing Andaya for the congressional race was his sister Maribel Andaya Eusebio, wife of former Pasig Mayor Bobby Eusebio.
The former congressman, who would run under the Nationalist People Coalition, is replacing Russel Bañez, his former aide, who earlier filed his candidacy for governor of the province.
Andaya submitted his withdrawal and filed his candidacy for the governorship with the Comelec provincial office Monday afternoon.
Andaya would challenge Luigi Villafuerte, the younger brother of Camarines Sur Gov. Miguel Luis “Migz” Villafuerte. Their father is Camarines Sur scond district Rep. Luis Raymond “LRay” Villafuerte.
At the press conference, Andaya also announced his resignation as a member of the Anduyog Party, a local political party in Bicol. He also resigned as the Nationalist People’s Coalition provincial chair and handed over the post to Camarines Sur fifth district Rep. Arlie Fuentebella.
