MANILA, Philippines — Cloudy skies with rain are expected in the northern part of Luzon on Monday as well as in Palawan and the eastern portion of Mindanao, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
“Asahan pa rin ang maulap na kalangitan, mga pagulan, at ilang pulo-pulong pagkidlat at pagkulob, dito sa Batanes, Babuyan Islands, at Cagayan,” said Pagasa senior weather specialist Chris Perez.
(Continue to expect cloudy skies, rains, and some scattered lightning and thunder, here in Batanes, Babuyan Islands, and Cagayan.)
“Samantalang maulap pa rin may mga pagulan pagkidlat at pagkulob sa Palawan area kasama nga ang Kalayaan islands,” he added.
(While it will also continue to be cloudy with rain, lightning, and thunder in the Palawan area, including the Kalayaan islands.)
This is still due to the prevailing northeast monsoon, or the “amihan” in extreme Northern Luzon, a shear line in Cagayan, and the intertropical convergence zone in the Palawan area.
Meanwhile, the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with rains caused by localized thunderstorms.
The entire Visayas, meanwhile, will experience hot and more humid weather conditions, but rain is still likely to be experienced in the afternoon and evening due to localized thunderstorms.
Except for the eastern portion of Mindanao, where cloudy skies and rains are forecasted, the rest of Mindanao will also experience the same weather condition as the Visayas.
Meanwhile, a low-pressure area was spotted outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on the eastern side of Mindanao.
While the LPA has so far no direct effect on the country, Perez warned that it may enter the PAR and affect some regions in both the Visayas and Mindanao.
The forecasted temperature range in key cities/areas according to Pagasa for Friday:
Metro Manila: 24 to 32 degrees Celsius
Baguio City: 16 to 24 degrees Celsius
Laoag City: 24 to 32 degrees Celsius
Tuguegarao: 24 to 31 degrees Celsius
Legazpi City: 25 to 31 degrees Celsius

Tacloban City: 25 to 31 degrees Celsius
Cagayan De Oro City: 24 to 31 degrees Celsius

Due to the effects of the “amihan,” gale warnings remain raised in the seaboards of Batanes, Babuyan Islands and the northern coast of Ilocos Norte.
Moderate to rough seas, on the other hand, is raised over the eastern coasts of the country, rough sea condition in the western coast of Luzon, and slight to moderate sea conditions in the rest of the country’s coasts and in-land seas.
