MANILA, Philippines — A total of 309 more patients have succumbed to COVID-19 complications, said the Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday, raising the country’s death toll to 45,581.

The total deaths currently account for 1.62 percent of the 2,816,980 confirmed infections of the coronavirus in the country. It also makes up 0.89 percent of the total deaths worldwide.
According to Johns Hopkins University COVID-19 tracker, global deaths are currently at 5,096,137, while total infections worldwide currently sit at 252,982,912.
Meanwhile, the total current active infections in the country are now below the 30,000 mark at 28,102, while recoveries are at 2,743,297.
The DOH also recorded a low health care utilization rate nationwide, with only 34 percent of ICU beds, 29 percent of isolation beds, 22 percent of ward beds, and 21 percent of ventilators currently in use during the pandemic.
It is the same for Metro Manila where occupied intensive care unit (ICU) beds are currently at 31 percent, isolation beds at 27 percent, ward beds at 25 percent, and 21 percent for ventilators.
