Pagasa: Cloudy Sunday with isolated rain showers
MANILA, Philippines — Partly cloudy skies and isolated rain showers are expected nationwide on Sunday due to several weather systems, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
“Sa kasalukuyan ay umiiral pa rin ‘yung shearline or tail-end of frontal system maging ang northeast monsoon o amihan dito sa bahagi ng northern Luzon,” Pagasa weather specialist Grace Castañeda said.
(Currently, the shearline or tail-end of frontal system and the northeast monsoon or amihan prevail over northern Luzon.)
With the two weather systems, Batanes and Cagayan will have cloudy skies with light rains.
The “amihan”, meanwhile, will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers to the Ilocos region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Cagayan Valley.

Pagasa also raised a gale warning over the seaboards of Batanes and Babuyan Islands.
“Sa kasalukuyan ay mayroon pa rin po tayong nakataas na gale warning dahil nga po ‘yan sa northeast monsoon o amihan dito po sa mga dagat baybayin ng Batanes at Babuyan Islands kung saan hindi nga po natin pinapayagang pumalaot ‘yung ating mga kababayang mangingisda pati na rin ‘yung may mga maliliit na sasakyang pandagat,” Castañeda said.
(Currently, a gale warning is raised, because of the northeast monsoon or amihan, over the coasts of Batanes and Babuyan Islands wherein fishermen and operators / crew members of small vessels are advised not to set sail.)
