142 more COVID-19 deaths push PH’s total count to 44,866 — DOH
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) logged an additional 142 COVID-related deaths on Thursday, raising the total number of fatalities due to the infectious disease to 44,866.
According to the DOH, the fatalities represent 1.60 percent of all the 2,811,248 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country.
A total of 28,660 patients still have COVID-19, based on the DOH’s case bulletin. Of the active cases, 62.1 percent are mild, 5.9 percent are asymptomatic, 17.15 percent are moderate, 10.4 percent are severe, and 4.4 percent are critical.

On Thursday afternoon, the DOH also reported 60 backlog deaths due to COVID-19 complications following a technical glitch with the agency’s reporting system on November 8.
COVID-19 deaths are currently on a downtrend as cases also drop amid the higher vaccination rate, according to the DOH. An average of 73 patients died per day in October, lower than the 179 average fatalities in September, 174 in August, and 103 in July.
