MANILA, Philippines — A fire broke out on Wednesday in Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City where the vaccination drive for minors aged 12 to 17 years old was being conducted.

The fire at the arena started on the second floor. It reached the first alarm at 8:18 a.m. and was put under control at 10:32 a.m., according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

Dong Pascual, barangay bureau head, said Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano ordered the vaccination site to be moved to SM Mall of Asia in the meantime.

Students from private schools, city residents who are studying outside of Pasay and out-of-school youths were scheduled to take their jabs at the venue.

The vaccination drive at the site will remain suspended until the BFP releases its report and recommendation.
