Over 1,000 minors get jabbed against COVID-19 in Olongapo City

OLONGAPO CITY — Some 1,057 children aged 12 to 17 have already received their first dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 in the city during its recent mass pediatric vaccinations.

According to the data from the City Health Office on Wednesday (Nov. 10), 350 of these minors have comorbidities and were prioritized during the inoculation held at the James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital on November 4 and on November 9

The remaining 707 children without existing ailments belong to the rest of the population and received the shot at a separate vaccination site inside a shopping mall here on November 9.

As of Wednesday, the city has already fully inoculated 60, 345 of its residents while 157, 360 were still waiting for their second dose of the vaccine.

The city has to vaccinate 182,000 residents or 70 percent of its 260,000-population to achieve herd immunity against the viral disease.
