MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will also receive applications for withdrawals and substitutions of election aspirants on Saturday, November 13, the poll body’s spokesperson James Jimenez said Wednesday.
However, Jimenez said that filing is “so far” not allowed on Sunday, November 14.
“November 15 ang deadline, which means that we’re really starting to watch the proceedings starting tomorrow. Walang Sunday so far. Pero kanina, napag-usapan na papayagan ‘yung Saturday, so 13,” Jimenez told an online press briefing.

“Right now, up to this point, ang (the) filing ng substitution and withdrawals is actually done at the entrance of the Palacio del Gobernador pero (but) with the last five days, what we’re gonna do is we’re gonna set up a receiving station at the lobby of the Palacio,” he said.
According to Jimenez, the move aims to help prevent crowding on the last day of filing for withdrawals and substitutions on Monday.
“It’s the last day and we know that it’s a matter of history that Filipinos love last day and we are a little concerned na kung magdadagsaan dito ‘yung magwiwithdraw which is required because it’s personal, baka magkaroon sila ng supporters na kasama,” he said.
