Waist-deep flood traps families in subdivision as Davao River swells
DAVAO CITY––Scores of families from Jade Valley Subdivision in Buhangin village in this city are waiting for water to subside to return to their homes that were engulfed by flood as the nearby Davao River swelled.
As of 3 p.m. Wednesday, the flood was still waist-deep, and raining started again.
Local authorities ordered the families to evacuate early Wednesday as floodwater rose to dangerous levels.
They are staying at the covered court of nearby Juliville Subdivision in Tigatto village.
Social workers of the local government have provided them with relief goods.
