CITY OF CALAPAN––A total of 44,051 individuals were fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in this city as of Tuesday, according to Mayor Arnan Panaligan.

This number is 43.17 percent of the target population of 102,050 earmarked for herd immunity in the city. This represents 70 percent of the city’s total population of 145,000.

The 43.17 percent accomplishment is higher than the national average of 37.23 percent and is the highest in Oriental Mindoro province and Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) region, said Panaligan.

He said they hoped to achieve maximum population protection by the end of December and herd immunity by January or February 2022, assuming that the supply of vaccines allotted for the city will continue to arrive at a faster pace.

Starting next week, the City Vaccination Task Force will open additional centers. Inoculations will also be done in clustered areas to accommodate more residents, especially those in rural villages.
