DOH logs 2,087 new COVID-19 cases; total at 2.8M

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday reported 2,087 more infections of COVID-19, bringing the total confirmed cases to 2,805,294.

According to the World Health Organization, the new cases still represent 5.2 percent of the 43,206 individuals tested —  slightly above 5 percent, which indicates controlled transmission of the virus.

Meanwhile, a higher number of recorded 3,510 recoveries raised the number of recuperated patients to 2,728,696, consequently bringing down the active cases to 32,077.

The active infections currently account for 1.1 percent of the total confirmed infections in the country. Those currently afflicted with the severe respiratory illness caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, meanwhile, consists of 64.7 percent mild cases, 5.8 percent asymptomatic, 16.09 percent moderate, 9.5 percent severe, and 4.0 percent critical.

Meanwhile, the death toll increased to 44,521 as the DOH logged 91 more deaths.

Amid the results, the DOH said eight labs were not able to submit their data in the total tests conducted on November 6, the DOH said. These labs contribute, on average, 0.8 percent of samples tested and 1.2 percent of positive individuals.

The health agency also said that it removed duplicates from the total case count — of which 5 were recoveries.

“Moreover, 66 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” it added.
