QC Jail operation back to normal after inmates’ protest Thursday–warden

MANILA, Philippines—The Quezon City Jail operation is back to normal a day after its inmates held a noise barrage in protest for the transfer of leaders and members of the Sigue-Sigue Sputnik Gang to Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig, its warden said Friday.

Quezon City Jail Warden Joseph Bela said visitors are again allowed inside on the usual visiting hours schedule which they have cancelled Thursday due to the noise barrage for fear that security situation could escalate.

Bela added that he will also meet with leaders of various gangs inside the detention facility.

One of those transferred to Camp Bagong Diwa is Reggie Reyes who has killed a fellow inmate.

He also assured that they will also return the P153,000 fund of the gang which was confiscated by the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Regional Office after an accounting was made on it.

The money, along with one half sack of improvised bladed weapons were confiscated during an inspection.
