Ilocos Norte under Alert Level 2 starting November 8

Ilocos Norte Alert Level 2

LAOAG CITY—Ilocos Norte sees a further easing of its COVID-19 quarantine restrictions as the province will be placed under Alert Level 2 beginning November 8, according to Governor Matthew Manotoc.

In a social media announcement, Manotoc confirmed on Saturday that the COVID-19 Alert Level System (ALS) will be implemented in the province for two weeks.

The province is under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ), the most lenient containment classification in the country, since November 1.

The Alert Level 2 classification for COVID-19 is more “relaxed than MGCQ,” the governor said, adding that restrictions on disallowing children to go out of their homes will be “finally” lifted.

Restaurants and other establishments would also be allowed to expand their capacities, from 50 to 70 percent, which would depend on whether operations are held indoors or outdoors.

The provincial government has yet to release more detailed guidelines regarding the implementation of  ALS in Ilocos Norte.
