OLONGAPO CITY—The local government began Thursday its mass COVID-19 vaccination for minors who are 12 to 17 years old and have comorbidities.
At least 100 children within the age group were the first to get the jabs at the James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital as the city launched the pediatric vaccination program.
Parents or guardians were required to present the children’s health certificates and identification cards to be accommodated in the immunization.
The city initially said 150 minors would be vaccinated per day but had to reduce it to 100 to avoid crowding at the site.
The city health officials said the vaccination would continue on Nov. 5 and Nov. 8-12.
Since last month, the local government has been encouraging eligible minors to register online to get vaccinated against the viral disease.
