DOH logs 1,766 new COVID-19 cases
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) reported 1,766 more COVID-19 cases on Thursday—the second straight day that the country’s new coronavirus cases were just over 1,000.
With the new infections, the country’s active cases of the disease are now at 37,159, which represent 1.3 percent of all the 2,795,642 confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic.
Of the active cases, 68.9 percent are mild, 5.3 percent are asymptomatic, 14.11 percent are moderate, 8.2 percent are severe, and 3.5 percent are critical.
Meanwhile, another 2,591 patients have recovered from the disease, raising the total recoveries to 2,714,658. However, 239 more patients have died, taking the death count to 43,825.
The DOH said 6.6 percent of 34,190 people who were tested were found positive for coronavirus on Tuesday. Only two testing laboratories were not able to submit their data on time.
The DOH removed from the total case count 22 duplicate entries, including 17 recoveries, and reclassified 214 recoveries as deaths after final validation.
