THE security guard who was cleared of robbery charges in the loss of P1.6 million from the Sinulog Foundation Inc. office will no longer file counter charges against the police.
Joselyndo Jabagat visited his lawyer, Gloria Lastimosa-Dalawampu, early this week to tell her that he is no longer interested to press charges.
Dalawampu offered her legal services for free to pursue the case.
But Jabagat said he prefers to live a peaceful life with his family and just attend to his sari-sari store in barangay Carreta.
He gave up work as a security guard after his traumatic experience.
“He thanked me for my services and said he wouldn’t pursue the filing of charges.
He doesn’t want any more trouble. He has not forgiven them (the authorities) but he’d rather stay away from them,” Dalawampu said.
SFI officials and the police charged Jabagat with qualified theft case for the missing P1.6 million cash taken from a steel vault in the SFI office in the Cebu City Sports Center a day after the Jan. 15 Sinulog.
Jabagat was the guard on duty and admitted that he fell asleep.
Prosecutors dismissed the complaint against Jabagat for lack of evidence. Until now, the police and SFI officials have yet to charge the real culprits./CORRESPONDENT FE MARIE. D. DUMABOCt
