BACOLOD CITY––Hospitals in this city have no plans of foregoing accreditation renewal with the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) over unpaid claims for COVID-19 cases from last year.
Dr. Ma. Antonia Gensoli, director of the Riverside Medical Center Inc., said there had been no move from hospitals in the city to disengage from PhilHealth.
The Negros Occidental government-run hospitals are also not disengaging from PhilHealth, said Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz.
“We don’t see any problem. We would like to work harmoniously with PhilHealth because many of our patients need it. They cannot pay for their hospitalization and medicines,” he said.
PhilHealth, he added, will remain a partner of the provincial government-run hospitals.
“The provincial government’s medicine debts to suppliers have greatly decreased, which means PhilHealth is paying the province for indigent patients’ needs,” Diaz said.
Jose Rene de Grano, president of the Private Hospitals Association of the Philippines Inc., said Tuesday that some members at Metro Manila, Iloilo, Cagayan Valley, and General Santos City were keen on disengaging from PhilHealth for its failure to pay claims.
