TACLOBAN CITY––The vaccination program for children aged 12 to 17 years in this city will start Friday, Nov. 5.

Dr. Gloria Fabrigas, city health officer, said the vaccination would cover those with comorbidities and the rest of the pediatric population (ROPT).

She said 1,240 slots would be available Friday at the Tacloban Convention Center, 167 at the Tacloban City Hospital, and 168 at the City Health Office.

Fabrigas said those who would avail of the vaccination for minors should present their birth certificates, consent of parents or guardians, and a medical certificate for those with illnesses.

“There will be no walk-ins. They have to register in our safe city (application),” she said.

City Mayor Alfred Romualdez appealed to the parents, and even those yet to be vaccinated against COVID-19, to be inoculated.

“We have more than enough supplies of vaccines. I am appealing, encouraging everyone to get vaccinated for us to achieve herd immunity and open our city and the economy,” he said.

As of Wednesday, 92,901 Taclobanons have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. At least 78,680 were fully vaccinated.

Tacloban has 122 active cases of COVID-19.
