MANILA, Philippines — The northeast monsoon or “amihan” will prevail over parts of Luzon and the Visayas, where cloudy skies and scattered rain showers are expected, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Saturday morning.
“Northeast monsoon ang umiiral sa malaking bahagi ng Luzon at sa kasalukuyan ay wala tayong sama ng panahon na maaaring makaapekto dito sa ating bansa,” said Pagasa weather specialist Grace Castañeda.
(The northeast monsoon is affecting a large part of Luzon. At present, we do not see any weather disturbance that could affect the country.)
The state weather bureau said the Bicol region and Eastern Visayas will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the northeast monsoon.
Meanwhile, Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) region and the rest of Visayas, and Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
Castañeda said Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have fair weather, but isolated light rains may still occur due to the “amihan.”
