MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has released the tentative list of aspirants for local and national posts in the upcoming 2022 elections.
For the national posts, the list made public by the poll body on Friday showed 97 for president, 28 for vice president and 174 for senators.
The list is expected to be trimmed to weed out nuisance candidates, while some prominent aspirants could also sprung up since the deadline for the substitution of candidates is still on November 15.
The poll body will release the final list of candidates by December, according to Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez.

Jimenez said aspirants could still request for the correction of typographical errors in their names.
“Aspirants whose names appear on the tentative list of candidates released by the COMELEC have until November 8 to submit their requests for correction of typographical errors in their listed names,” he said in a Twitter post on Friday.
The national elections will be held on May 9, 2022.
