Village councilman, pal slain in Maguindanao ambush
DATU ODIN SINSUAT, Maguindanao — A police manhunt was launched against two men who allegedly shot dead a village councilman and his companion along the national highway here on Tuesday afternoon (October 26).
The victims were on board a motorbike when the gunmen, on another motorbike, tailed them along the national highway in Barangay Makir.
Residents said they heard a series of gunshots at past 4 p.m. and later found two dead men on the side of the highway.
Lt. Fayeed Cana, spokesperson of the Maguindanao police office, identified the victims as Mansor Andil, 34, village councilor of Barangay Pandag in Pandag town, and Aliakbar Abdulatip, 37, also a resident of Pandag.
Lt. Col Romel Dela Vega, Datu Odin Sinsuat police chief, said the victims died on the spot from multiple gunshot wounds.

According to Cana, the town’s CCTV cameras were able to record the two gunmen suspiciously loitering near the municipal town hall before the shooting.
