LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte—The rollout of the COVID-19 vaccination for children with comorbidities ages 12 to 17 will begin in Ilocos Norte’s biggest public hospital on Friday, Oct. 29, according to a health official.

The vaccination facility at the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center (MMMH&MC) in Batac City would be the first in the province to inoculate those in the age group referred to as “Pediatric A3” population, according to Dr. Gretchen Ranada, MMMH&MC’s COVID-19 vaccination team leader.

Ranada said that they would prioritize the vaccination of existing hospital patients who are suffering from cancer, heart diseases, and those undergoing dialysis.

At least 2,340 doses of Pfizer-made vaccines were allocated to the hospital for the children’s inoculation, Ranada said.
