MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Leni Robredo is also an extraordinary lawyer, her spokesperson said on Wednesday after Senator Imee Marcos described the second-highest elected official as an “extraordinary housewife.”
In a tweet, lawyer Barry Gutierrez said that aside from having passed the Bar Exam, Robredo was also a productive legislator and is an actual degree holder.
Asked over ABS-CBN’s Teleradyo to use two words to describe the presidential candidates, Senator Marcos said Robredo is an “extraordinary housewife.”
“VP Leni is also an ‘extraordinary lawyer,’ a ‘productive legislator,’ an ‘actual degree holder’ (several times over in fact), and, of course, the ‘duly elected Vice President,’” he said, responding to a tweet containing Marcos’ statements.
“Just spreading some truth and love this #kakampinkwednesday,” he added.

In the interview with Teleradyo, Marcos shared some of her insights on the candidates for the 2022 national elections — who may square off against her brother, former senator Bongbong Marcos.
He also described Manila Mayor Isko Moreno as the country’s favorite basurero (garbage collector) for his inspiring rags to riches story, Senator Manny Pacquiao as having the heart of a champion, Senator Ping Lacson as an eagle-eyed investigator, and Senator Ronald dela Rosa as a model policeman.
Marcos added that Robredo must never be underestimated, along with other candidates because all of them have their own areas of expertise.
Although Gutierrez’s tweet did not mention any names, the issues he mentioned — that of being a productive legislator, having a degree, and being the duly-elected vice president — are hounding former senator Bongbong Marcos who is also seeking the presidency in the 2022 polls.
Recently, Marcos’ achievements in government along with his educational achievements were put into question by social media users, with some noting that only one bill that he authored passed into law. There were also questions on his supposed graduation from Oxford University.

But Marcos’ lawyer and chief of staff Vic Rodriguez said there was no misrepresentation about the former senator’s educational attainment.
