Man hacked by drinking buddy during birthday party in Quezon province

LUCENA CITY––A 50-year-old man was injured after he was hacked by his drinking buddy during a birthday party Wednesday in Sariaya town in Quezon province.

The Sariaya police reported that Luis Perez and Joven Reñon were having a drink at the house of Danny Reñon, Joven’s relative, who was celebrating his birthday in Barangay Bignay 2 at 12:15 a.m.

Suddenly, the two had a heated argument that led Joven to hack Perez repeatedly with a bolo.

Joven fled on foot, leaving behind Luis severely wounded.

The victim was taken to the Lucena United Doctors Hospital and Medical Center and transferred to Quezon Medical Center for further treatment.

Police are investigating the motive behind the incident.
