DOH reports 135 COVID-related deaths

MANILA, Philippines — The country logged 135 more COVID-related deaths on Tuesday, raising the total deaths due to the disease to 42,077, according to data from the Department of Health (DOH).

The deaths compose 1.52 percent of the total 2.76 million confirmed cases of the COVID-19, according to the health department.

The DOH has so far reported over 3,600 deaths for October. There were 260 fatalities logged on Thursday, 283 on Friday, 65 on Saturday, 208 on Sunday, and 149 on Monday.

There are still 53,642 patients who have the disease, of which 5.8 percent are severe and 2.4 percent are critical. Meanwhile, 74.8 percent are mild, 6.7 percent are asymptomatic, and 10.37 percent are moderate cases.

On hospital occupancy, 53 percent of intensive care unit beds, 40 percent of isolation beds, 37 percent of ward beds, and 35 percent of ventilators are currently being used.

The Philippines is now classified as low risk for COVID-19 outbreak after seeing a decrease in additional COVID-19 cases. The average daily attack rate in the country has likewise gone down to 5 per 100,000 population which is classified as moderate risk.
