MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila is now classified as low risk for COVID-19 based on the metrics of OCTA Research.
“NCR [National Capital Region] is now classified as low risk using our metrics based on covidactnow.org. The positivity rate in the NCR decreased to 6% while the ADAR [average daily attack rate] decreased to less than 7 per 100,000,” OCTA Research said in its report released Tuesday.
According to the research group, the seven-day average of new cases in Metro Manila decreased to 901, from the 1,405 additional cases in the previous week. Healthcare utilization in the region was at 35 percent while ICU occupancy was 46 percent.
The low risk classification of OCTA Research for Metro Manila is different compared to the moderate risk classification of the Department of Health (DOH) for the capital region. But as per DOH metrics, the entire country is already back at low risk for COVID-19 outbreak.

Meanwhile, the cities of Mandaluyong, San Juan, and Valenzuela are still classified as moderate risk for COVID-19 due to its ADAR of above 10 per 100,000 individuals, according to OCTA Research.
OCTA said all other 14 local government units in Metro Manila are now under low risk based on the research group’s metrics.
Data from the group showed that the ADAR is 10.50 in Mandaluyong, 10.57 in San Juan, and 11.15 in Valenzuela. The ADAR mentioned is the number of new daily cases per 100,000 individuals from October 19 to 25.
Metro Manila now has 11,135 active cases of COVID-19 while the entire country has 57,763 active cases of the disease, based on the DOH tracker.
