Shabu worth over P6.9M seized in Bicol stings; 1 dead, 4 nabbed
LEGAZPI CITY––Anti-illegal drug operations Monday and Tuesday in Camarines and Albay provinces yielded P6.9 million worth of suspected shabu (crystal meth), police reports said.
A drug suspect was killed and four others arrested in the operations.
Col. Bernardo Perez, Camarines Sur police chief, said Alvin Baldoza, 36, a newly identified drug personality and resident of Bato town, sold a sachet of shabu worth P300,000 to an undercover agent in Barangay Palestina in Pili town at 1 a.m. Tuesday.
When the police operatives tried to arrest the suspect, he drew a gun from his waist and fired twice, prompting the police officers to retaliate.
Baldoza suffered two bullet wounds and died on the spot, Perez said.

Article continues after this advertisementIn Lagonoy town, also in Camarines Sur, Chiz Navea, 52, a barangay captain, was arrested around 10 p.m. Monday in a search operation at his house in Barangay Dahat. Navea ranked third in the municipal police drug watch list.
The police recovered 25 grams of shabu worth P170,000.
In Libmanan town, Redentor Agna, 38, was also arrested around 4 p.m. Monday in a separate search operation in Barangay Libod 2.
Anti-narcotics operatives confiscated eight sachets of shabu worth P8,000 from the suspect, who was on the illegal drugs watch list.
Major Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson, said Kim Cherriely Rojo, 26, was arrested at 6:25 p.m. in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Malaguit in Paracale town in Camarines Norte.
The police recovered four sachets of shabu and P500 buy-bust money.
In Legazpi City in Albay, Jasser Samporno, 31, was arrested at 7:20 p.m. in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Taysan.
Seized was a sachet of shabu worth P500.
