Metro Manila’s COVID-19 reproduction number drops to 0.46 — OCTA

MANILA, Philippines — The COVID-19 reproduction number  in Metro Manila has dropped to 0.46 from 0.59 a week ago, independent pandemic monitor OCTA Research reported on Friday.

The OCTA Research report shared by Dr. Guido David showed that the 7-day average of new cases in the National Capital Region from October 15 to 21 dropped to 1,044 while the reproduction number was pegged at 0.46.

“One week ago, the 7-day average in cases was 1,824 while the reproduction number was 0.59,” OCTA said in its report.

The healthcare utilization is also down to 40 percent from 47 percent last week, while the intensive care unit occupancy rate also decreased to 52 percent from 61 percent a week ago.

Positivity rate in NCR remains at eight percent, which is now close to the ideal positivity rate of five percent set by the World Health Organization, according to OCTA.
