MANILA, Philippines — The City of Manila on Thursday promised to vaccinate more minors against COVID-19 starting Friday.
Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno announced that the city will vaccinate minors aged 12-17 at the Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center (OMMC) at 8:00 a.m. on Oct. 22.
“We have reserved an appropriate number of vaccines ready for deployment. Ide-deploy natin ito para agarang maproteksyunan ang mga Batang Maynila (We will deploy it to immediately protect the Children of Manila),” Domagoso said.
Moreno also assured parents that the city government would provide comprehensive medical care and protection.
The city’s local government said that about 23,354 vaccines intended for the immunization of the said priority groups are currently in the storage of the city government. Of this, 22,854 are Pfizer vaccines, while the remaining 500 are Moderna.
Manila has set a target of inoculating at least 50 minors with comorbidities or those belonging to the A3 priority group with the COVID-19 vaccination on Friday.
The national government first started the pilot run of vaccination for minors with comorbidity on Oct. 15.
