BOY HIT  BY PRIEST’S CAR

AN 8-YEAR-OLD boy was injured after he was hit by a car driven by a parish priest in barangay Poblacion, Alegria town, southwest Cebu.

The boy was crossing the road past 3 p.m. last Tuesday when he was hit by a Kia Sportage driven by. Fr. Idelbrando Bohol, 45, who was on his way to  church for a Mass.

Fr. Bohol, parish priest of St. Nicholas De Tolentino church in barangay Poblacion, Malabuyoc town, told police that he was driving at slow speed but did not notice the boy cross because his view was blocked by a tricycle.

The boy sustained bruises in the face and was treated at the  Reinhard Wertgen Memorial Hospital.

The incident was amicably settled as Fr. Bohol agreed to shoulder the boy’s hospital expenses. /CORRESPONDENT RHEA RUTH V. ROSELL

MINER IN DALAGUETE KILLED

A MINER was shot dead in Dalaguete town, southern Cebu, on Tuesday.

Raniel “Bahoy” Gumisad, 27, a native of Sibugay, Zamboanga del Norte,  was shot in  the Ibalong Resources and Development Corp. compound, a mining firm in barangay Dumalan.

He  was walking to the bathroom,  about 60 meters from a tunnel, when he was attacked.

Police are still investigating the case.

Quirino Indig, the company’s security guard, said he heard two gunshots  around 11 p.m.

He  found Gumisad slumped outside the bathroom with gunshot wounds in the armpits. /CORRESPONDENT RHEA RUTH V. ROSELL

HABAL DRIVER SHOT DEAD

A HABAL-HABAL  driver,  was shot dead while watching a basketball game in Ronda town, south Cebu.

Police said a personal grudge appeared to be the motive of the attack against 23-year-old Eric Mansueto.

He  was sitting on a parked motorcycle when he was shot in the back.

Police said that a suspect, Rolando Quirante, was seen fleeing on foot after the attack. /CORRESPONDENT RHEA RUTH V. ROSELL

P137T LOST IN BURGLARY

A WOMAN reported to the police that P137,000 cash was stolen by thieves who burglarized her house in barangay Lorega, Cebu City.

Ellen Tolentino said she discovered the theft past 9 p.m. last Tuesday.

The woman said she was out when the thieves struck. She said the money was kept in a cabinet.
