MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Undersecretary Jesus Quitain as his new chief presidential legal counsel, Malacañang announced Tuesday.
Quitain will replace Salvador Panelo who is eyeing a seat in the Senate in the 2022 elections.
In 2018, Quitain was named as the Officer-In-Charge (OIC) of the Office of the Special Assistant to the President (OSAP) when then SAP Christopher “Bong” Go sought to run for senator in the 2019 elections.
Quitain served as administrator of Davao City when Duterte was still mayor.
Meanwhile, Roque said there is no replacement yet for former Agrarian Reform Secretary John Castriciones and former Informations and Communications Technology Secretary Gringo Honasan III who also filed their certificates of candidacy for senator in the 2022 polls.
