Manila LGU begins construction of its seventh hospital

MANILA, Philippines — Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso led the groundbreaking of the three-story Pres. Corazon C. Aquino General Hospital in Baseco Compound, the seventh government-owned hospital constructed in the capital city.

Joining Moreno during the ceremony were city Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna, Cong. Yul Servo-Nieto and other city officials.

In his speech during the ceremony, Moreno said that the construction of the hospital will be dedicated to those living at the Baseco compound and are struggling to find a hospital in case of emergency.

“Gusto ko mayroon kayong sariling ospital dedicated lamang dito sa loob ng Baseco upang mapangalagaan ang mga buntis sa loob ng nine months, at mga nanay na mga nanganak, at mga anak na mabigyan ng tamang atensyong medikal,” he said.

“Sometimes kasi may mga nadidisgrasysa, kinapos ng panahon, yung mga aberyang maaaring mailigtas pa yung buhay ng tao, nawawalan ng pag-asa na mabuhay pa at mabigyan ng immediate care,” the mayor added.

According to Moreno, the allotted budget of P100 million will be used for the construction of the 50-bed capacity hospital and its equipment.

– Digital X-ray equipment for the Radiology Department
– Laboratory and Central Diagnostics Department
– Centralized Medical Gas System (Oxygen Supply Line)
– Pharmacy
– Dietary Department
– 24/7 fully operational Maternity Department
– Surgery and Internal Medicine Department
– Male and Female Wards
– Pediatrics Ward
– Isolation Wards
– Service Elevator dedicated for Patients in Bed
– Passenger Elevator with 11-14 persons capacity

“We always try to be ahead of the situation for possible uncertainty because we are always certain in the City of Manila,” said Moreno.

“Kaya pumanatag kayo mga kababayan, may gobyerno sa Lungsod ng Maynila at ang gobyernong yan ay para sa tao dito sa ating lungsod na minamahal na kapitolyo ng bansa,” he further claimed.

Lacuna, meanwhile, said that the construction of the city’s seventh government owned hospital will strengthen the health sector of the nation’s capital.

According to her, this will also aide the public, particularly those in Baseco compound, to have a medical service in their area.

“Ngayon umaga ay isa na namang napakahalagang proyekto ang ating pasisimulan upang ganap nang mapagkalooban kayo ng isang dekalidad na pagamutan dito mismo sa BASECO, itong President Corazon C. Aquino General Hospital,” Lacuna said.
