MANILA, Philippines — Presidential aspirant and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno on Friday cried foul after a foreign news outlet called him a “porn star.”
The former actor also took a swipe at what he called the “moralist” and “disente” crowd.
“Hindi niyo malalamon mga masasakit na sinabi sa akin. Kahapon lang tinawag akong porno star,” Moreno said in a speech during a convention in Batangas City.
(You could not take the hurtful words they say about me. Yesterday, I was called a porn star.)
“Totoo po, ang sakit eh,” Moreno, who was in verge of tears, went on.
He continued: “Para bang pag mahirap ka, wala ka nang karapatan umangat. Dahil hindi ka katanggap-tanggap sa kanila na mga moralista, mga disente. Disente kuno.”
(It’s as if when you’re poor, you don’t have the right to rise up from your situation, just because you are not acceptable in the eyes of the moralists, those “disentes.” The self-proclaimed decent people.)
“Pag hindi ka sumang-ayon sa kanila, sa impyerno ka mapupunta. Wala na ba kaming karapatan magbago ang buhay?”
(Once you don’t agree with them, you are condemned to hell. Don’t we have the right to change our life?)
The politician’s former past as an actor who played sexy roles has been previously used against him.
President Rodrigo Duterte once mocked a certain mayor in Metro Manila who has bikini photos online, calling him a “call boy.”
While the President did not name anyone, Moreno is the only mayor in Metro Manila who once starred in movies playing sexy roles.
