MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) on Thursday reported that it has so far distributed over two million Philippine identification (PhilID) cards out of its 15 million target.
“Pagdating naman sa nakatanggap na ng kanilang ID, ang report ng PhilPost as of September 30 ay meron nang 2.2 million na Filipinos na nakatanggap na ng kanilang PhilID,” PSA Assistant Secretary Rose Bautista shared during the Laging Handa briefing.
(When it comes to those who received their IDs, PhilPost reported that as of September 30, there are 2.2 million Filipinos who got their PhilID.)
“At ang target naman namin para sa taong ito ay makapag-distribute kami sa 15 million na Filipinos ’yung kanilang PhilID,” she added.
(Our target this year is to distribute PhilIDs to 15 million Filipinos.)
The distribution of national IDs is the third step of the Philippine Identification System.
The first step is the registration of demographics while the second step is the capturing of biometrics.
According to Bautista, 43.2 million Filipinos out of the around 70 million target have undergone Step 1 as of October 8.
Meantime, out of the 50 million target for Step 2, some 34.99 million Filipinos had their biometrics captured.
Bautista said Filipinos may register online through register.philsys.gov.ph or through their field offices at the barangay level.
