Repair roads, Rama tells DPWH

CEBU City Mayor Michael Rama said he wants streamers put up  at the South Road Properties announcing that road maintenance in the area falls under the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and not  the Cebu city government.

He received many complaints  about the potholes in the SRP’s South Coatal Road.

“I already talked to (DPWH-7 District Engineer) Nicomedes Leonor and asked him to put up a streamer in the SRP that tells the people that it is the responsibility of DPWH and not of the City to maintain the road of SRP,” Rama said.

If Leonor doesn’t do it, the mayor said he  will let the City Traffic Operations Management put up the streamers.

Leonor told Mayor Rama there is a budget for the rehabilitation of  SRP roads but the schedule of implementation is still uncertain.

Rama said the potholes are temporarily filled with soil to ease  the problem but heavy rains easily washed off the filling. /Correspondent Edison A. Delos Angeles
