Leyte Rep. Veloso withdraws COC; abandons reelection bid
TACLOBAN CITY — Leyte Rep. Vicente Veloso will no longer seek reelection after he withdrew his certificate of candidacy (COC) on Friday, Oct. 9.
Veloso, who represents Leyte’s third congressional district, did not cite any reason why he decided to withdraw his COC.
His daughter, Anna Veloso Tuazon, filed her own COC for congresswoman hours before the Commission on Elections closed on Friday.
Tuazon, who is a lawyer by profession, is an incumbent member of the provincial board.
In his post, Rep. Veloso appealed to his supporters to also help her daughter.

Article continues after this advertisementTuazon said that after “considerable amount of introspection,” she decided to fill in the post of her father.
“I have accepted the challenge to serve as the representative of the third district of Leyte,” she said.
“Thank you for your messages and words of encouragement. I am humbled by your support…”she added.
