2 dead after house collapses in Bataan
ORION, Bataan — Two people were killed, another was injured while a girl was reported missing when a two-storey house in this town collapsed on Wednesday (Oct. 5) afternoon, authorities said.
Police said Leonardo Fernandez, 58, and Maria Theresa Fernandez, 61, both occupants of the house in Barangay Sabata, were rushed to nearby St. Michael Hospital, where they were declared dead on arrival.
Col. Joel Tampis, Bataan police director, said Leonardo and a helper identified as Lito Bautista, 65, were doing repair work on the house’s second floor when the whole floor gave way at 3 p.m.
Bautista got injured in the incident while a 7-year-old girl was still missing, police said.
Police said an investigation was underway to determine the cause of the collapse.
