MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga—Police arrested a suspected drug peddler, who yielded some P153,000 worth of “shabu” (crystal meth) in a buy-bust operation Tuesday in San Rafael village in Tarlac City.

In a statement, Tarlac police director Col. Renante Cabico identified the suspect as Renato Chavez, 42, a resident of Caloocan City. He said the suspect is on the police list of suspected drug personalities in Tarlac.

Provincial drug enforcement operatives arrested Chavez after the latter allegedly sold a sachet of shabu for P2,500 to an undercover policeman around 9:30 p.m.

Cabico said another 24 sachets of suspected shabu weighing 22.5 grams were confiscated from the suspect.

He said the suspect was taken to Camp Francisco Macabulos for investigation, while the seized evidence were brought to the provincial crime laboratory for examination.

The suspect is facing charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
