TD Lannie to bring rain, gusty wind over Visayas, parts of Luzon

Rain and gusty wind are expected to prevail over Visayas and some parts of Luzon in the next 24 hours due to Tropical Depression Lanie, the state weather agency's bulletin said Monday afternoon.

MANILA, Philippines — Rain and gusty wind are expected to prevail over Visayas and some parts of Luzon in the next 24 hours due to Tropical Depression Lanie, the state weather agency’s bulletin said Monday afternoon.

In its 24-hour advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Visayas, Masbate, Romblon, Mindoro provinces, and northern Palawan will continue to have rain and gusty wind.

Lanie will likewise bring cloudy with scattered rain shower and thunderstorm over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

Pagasa warned that flash floods or landslides may occur during moderate to at times heavy rains.

Lannie was last spotted over the coastal waters of Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental, with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour ands gusts of up to 55 kph.

It is moving westward at 25 kph, Pagasa said.

Moderate to strong winds in the northeast will be expected over Luzon’s northern and eastern sections and moderate to rough coastal waters with wave heights ranging from 1.2 to 2.8 meters.

Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao will also have moderate to strong winds from southwest to southeast, coupled with moderate to rough sea conditions.

Meanwhile, Pagasa said the rest of Luzon can expect moderate winds from northeast to northwest and moderate coastal waters with wave heights ranging to 1.2 to 2.1 meters.

Sunset on Monday will be at 5:44 p.m. while sunrise on Tuesday morning will be at 5:46 a.m.

Meanwhile, moonrise will be on Tuesday morning at 4:26 a.m. while moonset will be at 4:21 a.m.

Pagasa also recorded a minimum temperature of 24.2°C at 7 a.m. and a maximum temperature of 30°C at 1 p.m. at the weather station at the Science Garden, Diliman, Quezon City.
