MANILA, Philippines — An aspiring president calling for unity and a senatorial aspirant pushing for the revival of the economy were the first filers of the certificates of candidacy (COC) on Monday, the fourth day of filing for the 2022 elections.
Sonny Boy Andrade, an independent candidate, sought the highest position in the country. He filed his COC for president at 9:07 a.m.
“Marahil hindi niyo po ako masyadong kilala sa mukha pero po kasama niyo po ako sa lahat ng gawain para sa pagbabago ng Pilipinas. Magkaisa po tayo,” Andrade said.
(You may not know me by face but I will be with you for the change in the Philippines. Let’s unite.)
“Ipaglaban ang Saligang Batas ng Pilipinas, ipatupad… At respeto po sa mga matataas na nanunugkulan, lalo na sa ating batas,” he went on.
(Let’s fight for and implement the Constitution… and respect those in position, especially our laws.)

Narciso “Casecnan” Solis, an independent candidate, lodged his COC for senator at 9:01 a.m.
Solis, a miner from Baguio, is seeking to revive the country’s economy.
“Tatakbo po tayo sa Senado para sa muling pagsulong ng ekonomiya sa ating bansa,” Solis said.
(We’ll run in the Senate for the revival of our country’s economy.)
“Kagalang-galang na mga kapatid, sana palarin ako at ako ang gagawa ng ikakaganda ng ekonomiya sa ating bansa,” he added.
(Respected brothers and sisters, I hope I will be fortunate and I will make the country’s economy better.)
Moreover, Ang Koalisyon ng Indigenous People lodged their COC for partylist at 9:32 a.m.
