Active COVID-19 cases in Olongapo further drop to 512

OLONGAPO CITY—The number of active cases in the city further dropped to 512 on Thursday (Sept. 30), its lowest in the entire month of September, local data showed.

According to the city’s COVID-19 task force, the drop was due to the growing number of recoveries. At least 59 more virus-infected patients were cleared of the viral disease on Thursday alone.

So far, at least 4, 369 patients in the city have been healed from COVID-19. This reflected an 85-percent recovery rate out of the 5,145 total infections logged since last year.

The same data showed that 26 new COVID-19 cases were also registered in the city on Thursday.

On Sept. 19, the number of active cases here peaked at 837, its highest since the pandemic struck last year.

Olongapo’s COVID-19 death toll has slightly increased to 264 after recording one new death on Thursday.
