MANILA, Philippines — A generally fair weather is expected to prevail over the weekend as only thin clouds surround the country, state meteorologists said on Friday.

Weather updates from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) showed that no tropical cyclones are expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility in the next two to three days, especially now that Typhoon Mindulle continues to move farther away from the country.

Mindulle was last seen 2,525 kilometers northeast of the extreme northern Luzon, and is expected to be outside the Philippines’ tropical cyclone information area.

Despite thin clouds hovering above the country, Pagasa still warned that once the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) goes active, it may lead to the formation of low pressure areas or possible cyclones.

But for Saturday, weather would be warm and fair as Metro Manila and Puerto Princesa may enjoy temperatures of 25 to 33 degrees Celsius, Laoag with 24 to 32 degrees, Tuguegarao with 24 to 34 degrees, and Legazpi with 26 to 33 degrees.

For Visayas, while weather is also expected to be fair, there is a high chance of isolated rains brought by localized thunderstorms.  Iloilo and Tacloban are expected to have temperatures of 26 to 33 degrees Celsius, Cebu and Davao with 25 to 33 degrees, Cagayan de Oro with 24 to 33 degrees, and Zamboanga with 24 to 34 degrees.

Pagasa’s three-day weather forecast shows that the fair weather may persist in Luzon, particularly Metro Manila, Baguio, and Legazpi until Monday, but rains may start affecting these areas, leading to a drop in temperatures.

On the other hand, Cebu and Davao may see rains on Monday, and fairer weather on Tuesday.

As of now, no gale warning has been raised which means fisherfolk and small boat operators can freely set sail.
