DONA REMEDIOS TRINIDAD, Bulacan—The province of Bulacan will remain under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ), the second most restrictive containment classification, from Oct. 1-15 despite a downtrend in COVID-19 cases.
Gov. Daniel Fernando on Friday said he did not lobby for a more relaxed community quarantine so the spread of the virus could be further contained, adding that easing the restrictions could cause the number of infections to rise again.
From 4,700 active COVID-19 cases in the third week of August, the number dropped to 1,887 as of Friday.
In the City of San Jose del Monte, which posted its all-time high active cases at 910 on Friday, SM Mall and a private laboratory clinic opened a drive-thru swab test facility at the mall’s parking grounds.
The drive-thru swab center offers antigen and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests, which could yield results within 24 hours.
