COVID-19 kills 199 more patients; total deaths now 38,493
MANILA, Philippines — Another 199 individuals who had COVID-19 have died, which brought to 38,493 the total number of fatalities due to coronavirus since the pandemic hit the country, according to the Department of Health (DOH).
The case fatality rate (CFR), or the percentage of deaths among COVID-19 cases, now stands at 1.50 percent of the total 2,565,487 confirmed cases of the disease in the country as of Friday.
Of the total cases, 130,268 remain active or those that have yet to recover. According to DOH, 2.1 percent of the active cases are severe and 0.9 percent are critical that are at higher risk for death.
Meanwhile, 77.9 percent of the active cases are mild, 15 percent are asymptomatic, and 3.97 percent are moderate infections.
There were 93 deaths reported on September 27; 91 on September 28; 186 on September 29; and 130 on September 30.
Article continues after this advertisementThe department earlier reported that the percentage of deaths among COVID-19 patients in the country decreased in 2021 despite a three-fold increase in cases as compared to last year, as the country ramps up vaccination against coronavirus.
The DOH said the COVID-19 CFR was at 1.47 percent so far this year compared to 2.47 percent in 2020.
